Orlando Pirates Defeat SuperSport United 2-0
Orlando Pirates have redeemed themselves by claiming a 2-0 Betway Premiership win over SuperSport United on Tuesday evening, 22 October.
After crashing out of the Carling Knockout Cup after losing 3-2 to Magesi FC last weekend, the Buccaneers were determined to bounce back and make a statement against SuperSport at Orlando Stadium in Soweto, Gauteng.
Just two minutes into the match, striker Evidence Makgopa launched the ball over goalkeeper Richard Goss and into the net, giving Pirates a 1-0 lead.
However, for the remainder of the first half and most of the second, Matsatsantsa managed to prevent the Bucs from capitalising on any opportunities.
Fortunately for the home side, they pulled off a 2-0 victory after midfielder Deon Hotto propelled a powerful low shot past Goss in the 92nd minute.
As a result of this win, Orlando Pirates are sitting comfortably in first place with 12 points on the Premier Soccer League rankings; as for SuperSport United, they currently occupy 13th place with four points.
